USLacrosse recently revealed its 2009 Youth Excellence Awards

Excellence in Growing the Game
Robert ‘Robin’ Buckley – Fox Point, Wis.
This award is for an individual who supports the US Lacrosse mission and vision, working effectively and tirelessly to develop lacrosse in a particular geographic area. Robin Buckley has been involved in lacrosse for over 20 years and has consistently sought out opportunities to provide individuals with coaches’ training and any other programs to help support the sport’s development in a positive way. He is actively involved in finding ways to incorporate all US Lacrosse resources to the fullest including: the coaches’ training and certification programs, the New Start Program, hosting National Team Clinics for both boys and girls, hosting annual PCA workshops, and he has attended the National Convention every year since 1992. In 2002, Buckley founded the Wisconsin chapter of US Lacrosse and the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation (WLF). With his enthusiasm and excitement for the sport, Buckley hopes to spread the game to areas that are currently untouched.

It is that time of year again when everyone but the ski bums and the sled hounds, go inside for the winter! But at the Keva center we will be playing Lacrosse, indoor version!!!

SIgn up to today to secure your spot for the 2009/2010 Winter Leagues Sessions 1 and 2!!!

We have boys 4-7th leagues, boys 7-12 instructional, boys 7-10 JV, and boys Varsity 10th-12th, if played one year of varsity for 10th graders. As well as Girls 7-12th league.

Milwaukee School of Engineering Adds D3 Men's Lacrosse

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) will add men's varsity lacrosse as the school's 22nd sport beginning in the spring of 2010 according to Director of Athletics Dan Harris.

"Lacrosse has rapidly gained popularity in the Midwest as more opportunities have grown through local youth clubs and high schools," said Harris. "During the past three seasons, we have seen growth in our club program and are ready to grant the team varsity status."

Robin Buckley, will fill the position as head coach, a position he has held the past three years with the school's club program. Buckley brings over 19 years of coaching experience to the MSOE Raider program. Buckley, a native of Illinois, started playing the sport of lacrosse in 1982 at Lawrenceville Prep in New Jersey. He continued playing lacrosse in college at Lake Forest College, where he was a four-year starter.

Buckley has been involved in the growth of lacrosse in the Milwaukee area since 1997, when he was one of the founding members of the Milwaukee Lacrosse Club, Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) and the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation-Wisconsin Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

MSOE is a charter member of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC). Other schools in the conference include Adrian College, Carthage College, Fontbonne University, Mount St. Josephs College and Trine College. Additional members are expected to join the conference in the future.

MSOE has a total of 22 varsity sports, with the majority of the sports competing in the Northern Athletics Conference and three sports competing in independent conferences.

Major League Lacrosse is coming to Milwaukee this Summer

The MLL Chicago Machine will be playing the Washington Bay Hawks in a league game on Saturday, June 27th at 7:00 PM. This game will be held on the Stadium field at Uihlein Soccer Complex following the Milwaukee Lacrosse Festival events of the day.

Gates open at 5:00 PM.

Tickets are available to all lacrosse enthusiasts and newly interested fans.

All tickets are general admission and are $20. Group tickets of thirty or more are $15 each. Milwaukee Select players will be selling four-packs of tickets for $75.

The Badger State Games for lacrosse, being played in Neenah, WI, have changed the dates of the tournament to accommodate the Milwaukee Lacrosse Festival and Brewtown Showdown . This is great news for all lacrosse players and fans as these are two very popular tournaments in June in Wisconsin.

Carthage Men's Lacrosse to Open Inaugural Season

The Carthage College men’s lacrosse team (0-0 varsity record) opened its inaugural season on Saturday, Feb. 7 with a pair of exhibition games at the McCook Athletic & Exposition in McCook, Ill. The Red Men lost to Davenport University, 10-9, before upending the Marquette University club team by a 12-3 margin. In the Davenport game, a goal by Carthage’s Drew Peters, assisted by Owen Foley, tied the contest, 9-9, before the Panthers scored on the next face off with seven seconds to go.

Carthage’s Dan Norkiewicz score two goals against Davenport and two against Marquette. Keegan Bowman collected three goals and an assist versus Davenport with two goals and three assists in the Marquette game. Owen Foley had a goal with four assists versus Davenport and two goals against Marquette. Rusty Miller scored twice against Marquette. Dustin Heinrichs, Jordan Levack and George Sikes each had four takeaways, and David Hoeft collected seven saves against Marquette. The Red Men travel to Lake Barrington, Ill., on Saturday, Feb. 14 to the play the University of Illinois club team at the Lake Barrington Field House, beginning at 8 p.m.

They will be coming to Milwaukee for the weekend of June 26th-28th.

Games will be held at Uihlein Soccer Complex again this year. There will be two youth divisions this year, two high school, an adult club and a masters division(32+). Planning is underway and hotel blocks have been blocked. This will be a fun festive weekend.

Team registration starts January 25th with a security deposit of $150.
Individual registration online.
Rosters and team synopsis due May 26th.

Milwaukee Summer League Lacrosse starts June 11th

Summer league will be held at Brown Deer Park Wednesday nights starting June 11th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Games will be held at soccer field #1 and #2 near picnic area #4 & #5.

Lacrosse League for high school, college and post-college club players. Officials for each game.
Four teams of lacrosse. Players will be assigned to teams by carpool, position and ability/experience.

Wednesday, June 11th to July 30th.
Individual registration - $125 includes team jersey.

Participants need to have a valid US Lacrosse membership to play. Please include membership number with your registration. Register or check your current membership online through US Lacrosse.
